CARE2 Youth Behavior Assessment and Treatment Planning Tool Is Now Online
To reduce violence, one must be able to measure risk in a valid manner and know how to manage risk and prevent future violence. An assessment tool that links problems and resiliency with evidence based treatment, such as the CARE2 has been needed in the field of youth violence. It is not enough to measure risk for violence, professionals must also provide effective treatment to at risk youth.

Kindness Revolution Day 26: Donate Your Talents and Skills
I truly believe that information is power. I recently learned that a First Nations (the Canadian version of native Americans) community in the Clayoquot Sound region of Vancouver Island wanted to know more about its residents’ health. So, I decided that my gift for today (and quite a few days leading up to today) would be to donate my health research and reporting. I specifically reviewed cancer risks, health and population statistics, and lifestyle factors among the people of the community so that the region can implement educational programs that address the specific health concerns facing its people. I was thrilled to see my skills serving such a worthwhile project.
Whatever your skills, experience, and talents, there is a community or organization that would be thrilled to have you donate them to its projects. Pick something that has meaning for you and don’t be afraid to make a few phone calls or ask around in your community first. Time is precious these days and many organizations couldn’t function without their volunteers.

Preaching to Oprah’s Choir
It has been a week of decision making ever since it came to my attention that Oprah was looking for people to host television shows on her new network. What finally convinced me to take action and make the audition video was the one comment that has been repeatedly expressed following my blogs here on Care2.com. “Delia, you are preaching to the choir,” say many of you who already know so much about the state of our health and environment, while so many others are struggling to deal with the stress of their everyday lives, with little time for environmental issues.
After considerable thought, following Oprah’s announcement, I realized it was time to introduce the two choirs, Oprah’s and Care2’s, and create a television show that asks the big questions of our time and then sets out to find some answers. Giving the show the tentative title of Think Global, Act Local, my intention is to highlight how concerned individuals and groups are dealing with the issues of our food supply, clean air, recycling, energy use, preserving our natural resources, caring for our children, and caring for our elders, to name a few.
